Dear Pok-O-MacCready alumni, parents, staff and friends:

It is with considerable pleasure that we report on another successful year for the Adirondack Scholarship Foundation. This year marks our 30th anniversary of the Foundation, which was started by Jack Swan in 1981. The Foundation was created to provide annual scholarships to children attending Camp Pok-O-MacCready and we’re pleased to report that this past summer a record 21 scholarships were awarded. We want to thank you all for your support. Simply amazing!

This past year, our annual alumni events- The Patch Sprint and The 46-in-a-Day- were huge successes, as always. The Patch Sprint has become “the place to be” on Memorial Day Weekend. We are currently in the planning stages for a few different events in the coming year and we hope you can join us.

On a very sad note, long-time camper and staff member Matt Potel died this past fall in a hiking accident in the Adirondacks. He was just 22. Matt was an enthusiastic and beloved member of camp, and his family requested that, in Matt’s memory, donations be made to the Adirondack Scholarship Foundation. We are both humbled by, and grateful for their gesture; as of this writing, over 85 individuals and families have made a donation in Matt’s memory. We only hope that we can give out a scholarship to a child who embodies all that Matt offered to our camp.

This year, our goal is to raise at least $50,000, which will enable us to continue offering the dream of camp to deserving children. Please help us reach that goal with your pledge. Your donation is tax deductible. If you wish, you may mail all or part of your payment amount today in the self-addressed stamped envelope enclosed with this letter. Alternatively, if you wish to donate online, you can do this conveniently and securely through our web site listed below.

We want to thank you for the dedication and support you have put into the Foundation. Because of you, we have created a stronger, more vibrant organization that will scale and grow into the future. Should you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.Have a great holiday season! All our best,
